We are off to a GREAT start!

Our first eight days of school have been amazing! We have been busy getting to know each other, our classroom, and preparing ourselves for all the things we will learn this year. Students have been pariticipaing in PBIS behavior expectations, discussing and practicing being a responsible and respectful O’Donnell citizen, and showing what they know in reading and math skills. This week in the classroom, students will begin learning how to work independently during math and reading centers, and continue our discussions of second grade responsiblities for success!

Parents can support your students success by encouraging a regular bedtime routine (research suggests between 9-12 hours a night for 7 & 8 year old children); read daily (they can read to you, independently, or listen to a book read aloud); and come to school on time every day with the blue home folder checked and emptied each day.

Beginning the week of August 26, students will be given a daily reading log with spelling words for the week. Spelling tests are on Fridays and reading logs are also due. Students will receive a new reading log and spelling words each week.  Reading logs and spelling tests contribute to students’ Language Arts grades. Please practice spelling words and encourage daily reading to support your child doing their best each week.
